Specialised higher military preparation
Mounouna Foutsou assesses his troops
The Minister of Youth Affairs and Civic Education paid a visit to the Koutaba Airborne Troops Battalion Training Centre in the West Region on 13 May 2024 for a mid-course assessment of the training level of his staff deployed there.
45: that’s the number of days staff of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Civic Education will be undergoing specialised higher military preparation (PMSS). Being the second crop of MINJEC staff to undergo a PMSS training, after that of 2019, these 98 State employees began their training on 27 April 2024. In keeping with the National Civic Education Programme through Moral, Civic and Entrepreneurial Rearmament (PRONEC-REAMORCE), this training for trainers is meant to inculcate more moral, civic, patriotic and physical skills and attitudes in these youth and action staff.
The training undergone by MINJEC’s future reserve officers is made up of three modules namely: general training to develop a leader’s personality, combat training including military discipline, awareness-raising skills, and physical training. Kalashnikov and M21 marksmanship, commando marching: the 98 residents of the BTAP in Koutaba are “keeping up well with the training, they are able to mount and dismount weapons”; this was the assessment made by Colonel Zo’o Messougla, commander of the BTAP Centre, during Minister Mounouna Foutsou’s visit.
During his inspection of the troops, Minister Mounouna Foutsou recommended “boldness, efficiency and fearlessness”. Reminding his staff of their primary mission as youth leaders, the head of the Ministerial Department said, “make sure to be always more dedicated and enthusiastic towards this profession”. The training was organised to build cohesion between the defence and security forces and civilians, in keeping with the theme of the 52nd National Day namely: “Army and Nation: Together for a United, Peaceful and Prosperous Cameroon”.
