Sensitising, Mobilising, Training and Educating the youth towards building an emerging nation
The implementation of the Youth Plan is an efficient response and a bold step taken by the State in its willingness to ensure, with renewed determination, the empowerment of the Cameroonian youth, whose vulnerability has been significantly compounded by the effects of the global economic crisis.
Given its operational nature, the Youth Plan offers youths a set of specific programmes that provide strategies and concrete solutions to their major concerns, including among others:
All these things contribute to the success of the Greater Achievements Policy and to our common aspiration to make Cameroon an emerging nation, rooted in solid institutions, democratic, prosperous and respected in Africa and in the world.
In this regard, the Youth Plan is a comprehensive therapy that aims at making the youth, in the medium term, the driving force of national development in its economic, social and cultural dimensions. It aims to be an instrument of moral rearmament and a lever for mobilising youths for the major national projects of the day: the revival of economic growth, governance and the fight against corruption, and the improvement of citizens’ living conditions.
The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Civic Education is responsible for the elaboration and implementation of the Government’s policy in the fields of youth, civic education and the promotion of national integration.
Officially launched on 09 December 2019, Youth Connekt Cameroon is a joint Government - United Nations System project that aims at enhancing young people's connection to opportunities in order to scale up their empowerment and boost their participation in development. Youth Connekt Cameroon is an innovative approach that strives to boost the transformation and acceleration of Cameroon's emergence through a multi-sector approach that targets young people.
On 10 February 2016, on the occasion of the fiftieth anniversary of the Youth Day, the Head of State, His Excellency Paul Biya, announced the implementation of the Three-Year “Special-Youth” Plan , abbreviated as TYSYP. The TYSYP was allocated 102 billion CFA francs, with the objective of accompanying 1.5 million youths in Cameroon at a pace of 500,000 youths per year.

I can't stress this enough. Self-employment is one of the best routes to socio-professional integration, given the impossibility for the State and the private sector to absorb the ever-increasing volume of young people entering the job market every year.
The Triennial Plan Spécial Jeunes, launched in 2016, is in line with this logic. It has already funded thousands of projects for young people.
In the same vein, the Program for the Promotion of
Entrepreneurship Program has contributed to the creation of over 12,000
new businesses in 2023. These generated nearly 22
thousand direct jobs.
This progress is certainly encouraging. But, as I am well aware
